Deliverance - This is an brilliant re-creation of the Dickey novel of 4 Atlanta businessmen who get more than they can handle throughout a weekend canoe trip. McKinney and Coward are two of the most horrible film scoundrels in history. The "Dueling Banjos" scene is very memorable. Film debuts of Beatty and Cox. James Dickey adjusted his own novel, and appears in the film as a sheriff. Ed O'Neill appears as a freeway watcher near end of film. Cast includes Cast includes Jon Voight, Burt Reynolds, Ned Beatty, Ronny Cox, Billy McKinney, Herbert "Cowboy" Coward, and James Dickey. (109 minutes, 1972)

Casino - Sam Rothstein has worked his way through the mob ranks and now runs the casino that his Chicago company owns. When mafia strong arm Nicky Santoro arrives in town, Sam pleads with him to keep a low profile. Business is good, and his services aren't really necessary. Terry Benedict, the casino owner they swindled out of $160 million wants his money back, and knows who robbed him. This leads to another and more diabolical plot to deal with this new mess.

China Moon - Tiny-town police officer Harris lusts after miserably married Stowe in this moody film noir. A few nice twirls, although production is more than a tad similar to the better Body Heat. This is a directorial debut for Bailey, more commonly known as a top cinematographer. Cast includes Madeline Stowe, Charles Dance, Benicio Del Taro, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Roger Aaron Brown, and Patricia Healy. (99 minutes, 1994)

The House of Yes - On a stormy day in 1983, a youthful man brings his fiancee home to meet his penniless Washington, D.C, family, containing his demented twin sis, Jackie-O, whose fantasies in Jacqueline Kennedy have extended to the point of reinacting the JFK assassination-with live bullets. Well made black comedy, based on the stage production by Wendy MacLeod. Cast includes Parker Posey, Josh Harnilton, Tori Spelling, Freddie Prinze, Jr., Genevieve Bujold, and Rachael Leigh Cook. (90 minutes, 1997)

Rock My World - This is a pretty good comedy set in England (however shot and funded in Canada) that went directly to video in the U.S. although is far more involving than its theatrical destiny could show. We see an patrician British couple lease their house to a rock band and end up posing as the butler and chef while the eccentric team ultimately shows up. Observing the interplay create between these enormously variant generations and lifestyles is fun and the music is amazingly catchy. Cast includes Peter O'Toole, Joan Plowright, Alicia Silverstone, Jairnz Woolvett, Keram Malicki-Sanchez, Christopher Bolton, and Lochlyn Munro.
