Whether to buy the Epiphone Les Paul guitar or not is a favourite topic to be discussed by people who like to play a guitar as well as other music lovers. Guitars such as the Epiphone Les Paul are affordable but not cheap; you get an inexpensively priced quality guitar.
This has been a common argument among guitarists and music lovers around the world. But if you did not know any better, there is so much more to it than just being a 'cheap guitar' and knowing its origin might help you understand.
He made a company solely based on his craft. The timing was right since America took a liking to these musical string instruments. In 1928, the family began making the first Epiphone model. The name originated from Epamimondas, the name of the guitar maker's son. However, Gibson bought the guitar company in 1957.
Anastasios had a son named Epamimondas and that is how the name Epiphone came about in 1928. It was also in this year that Anastasios began making guitars, until the Gibson Company took over the business in 1957.
On the other hand, people were going crazy about electric guitars. Thus, Gibson came up with his own design but along the development stage, he asked for Les Paul's inputs and designs. Les Paul also played a big role in the marketing efforts for the guitar as its endorser.
The Epiphone Les Paul guitars are affordable yet they do not sacrifice quality; to make this possible, they utilised cheap materials and low labour cost in places like Korea. But nonetheless it is still a good guitar.
Some people argue that maybe the Epiphone Les Paul guitars now are not as good as the original Gibson version. Other guitar players think that the Epiphone has a different tone and not as good as the Gibson; some think that it is not even that user-friendly.
While some accusations may be true as a result of rare factory defects since every factory set varying standards- and these flaws do not just limit to the Epiphone as this goes the same for all guitars, the overall feedback is good. Pro-Epiphone guitar users would say that it is lighter and they are in fact, quite satisfied with it.
The truth of the matter is that the Epiphone is very much the same as the standard Les Paul guitar, built with more mahogany pieces, yet the sound is the same.
Aside from these similarities, the Gibson and the Epiphone models are physically created to look similar, almost like twins.
