Today is a wonderful time to be a movie aficionado. For numerous years the only way to view a up-to-the-minute movie was to go to the theater. After that the video stores came out but there you had to go over there and try to obtain your movie, it was frequently out of stock and if you didn't get it back on time you had to pay a late fee. Now you can get films by mail but you still have to wait. Pick from the reviews below and download a good movie to watch today.
The Stepford Wives - A modern remake of the 1975 flick of the same name. The town of Stepford, on original look, seems like the perfect place. Everything in Stepford seems perfect. Newcomers to Stepford Joanne and Bobbie are beginning to speculate what is going on. Will they figure it out before it is too late?
Far and Away - A scrappy Irish occupant farmer hooks up, in doubtful style, with the comparably feisty daughter of a wealthy landowner, and together they travel to America to search for their final fortune in the 1893 Oklahoma land rush. Exceptional platform for Tom and Nicole, who are both beautiful and involving; the dilemma is a severe dearth of decent dialogue to fill the gaps between fight scenes. Cast includes Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Thomas Gibson, Robert Prosky, Barbara Babcock, Cohn Meaney, and Rance Howard. (140 minutes, 1992)
Clue - Silly and insipid thriller based on the fashionable board game of the same name with all the familiar characters Mrs. Peacock, Colonel Mustard, Miss Red, et al. gathered for a murderous day in a Victorian mansion. Everyone tries enormously hard but there is nothing they can do to save this weak film. Cast includes Eileen Brennan, Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Michael McKean, Martin Ponder, and Howard Hesseman. (87 minutes, 1985)
Rhapsody in Blue - Hollywood biography of George Gershwin is largely fiction, although comes off better than most other composer biographies, seizing Gershwin's enthusiasm for his work, and some of his innermost conflicts. Cast includes Robert Aida, Joan Leslie, Alexis Smith, Oscar Levant, Charles Coburn, Hazel Scott, and Al Jolson. (139 minutes, 1945)
Forgetting Sarah Marshall - Here is a romantic comedy set in a picturesque resort in Hawaii. After being dumped by his girlfriend Sarah, he finally decides to go to Hawaii to get over the loss. Unfortunately, when he goes to check in at the resort, the first person he sees is Sarah, and of course her new boyfriend.
Cuba Crossing - Our lead man Stuart Whitman becomes embroiled in a conspiracy to take out Fidel Castro. Filmed in Key West, Florida, and at minimum the landscape is beautiful. Cast includes Stuart Whitman, Robert Vaughn, Caren Kaye, Raymond St. Jacques, Woody Strode, Sybil Danning, Albert Salmi, and Michael Gazzo. (90 minutes, 1980)
The Indian in the Cupboard - A young man (Scardino) receives an old chest as a birthday gift, and finds that when he sets a toy Indian inside and turns the key, the Indian comes to life. Then he sees that the Indian is not a toy, but a real individual. Difficulties follow, particularly while his best friend brings to life a toy cowboy. Cast includes Hal Scardino, Lindsay Crouse, Richard Jenkins, Rishi Bhat, and Nestor Serrano. (96 minutes, 1995)
