Lets face it breaking up sucks. If you have ever heard the song "Need You Now" by Lady Antebellum (if you haven't make a point of checking it out, it's a great song) you may have sympathized with the characters in the song who are going through a break up and doing things all wrong.

Lets face it breaking up sucks. If you have ever heard the song "Need You Now" by Lady Antebellum (if you haven't make a point of checking it out, it's a great song) you may have sympathized with the characters in the song who are going through a break up and doing things all wrong.
One of the lines in the song states: "It's a quarter after one, I'm all alone and I need you now. Said I wouldn't call but I lost all control and I need you now." Mistake number 1, desperate dialing!
Here is another line: "It's a quarter after one, I'm a little drunk and I need you now." Drunk dialing is even worse. The other mistake that is often made is texting the ex, and texting and more texting. You become what is called a Text Terrorist. That will not work either.
What do you do if you want to get your ex back?
Be truthful with yourself and ask yourself this question: Do I absolutely want my ex back? Take hard look at everything here and make sure the true love is really there and this is not just a reaction to being alone or feeling by your self.
Yes, I want my ex back! If that was your answer there is a process to follow.
Make SUre You Do Not Do What Is Expected
What ever you do, do not be predictable. You want to keep the ex wondering and make them earn their way back into your good graces.
How can you avoid doing what is expected? By breaking from routine. The odds are good that following the same old routine is what led you to this place to begin with. It's time to shake things up and do something a little new, different, and exciting.
Make Sure You Have Relationship Goals
Even though you're apart you can still set goals. If you're trying to get your ex back, goal setting is an important part of the process. Set goals for different degrees of closeness and affection between the two of you and then set out to achieve those goals.
Some goals you might want to use: controlling your temper, making physical changes and emotional milestones, to mention a few. Ultimately you will be responsible for picking out the goals that are best suited for your relationship.
Be Accountable For Both The Successes And The Failures
Accountability is something that is in surprisingly short supply lately. Be accountable to yourself for failing to meet goals. At the same time you should also reward yourself for the goals you do achieve.
Reward and punishment are great motivators. Use them well. Some rewards you might consider are new hair styles, new video games, or even a night on the town with friends. Be sure that you're doing things to encourage an active lifestyle whenever possible. You don't want to exacerbate existing problems by creating potential health problems along the way.
